With its rhythmic allover design and time-softened palette, this antique Mahal rug (10.8 × 14.2 ft) embodies the quiet sophistication of Persian village weaving. The field is filled with a repeating Herati pattern - diamond rosettes framed by curved leaves - expertly spaced across a deep navy ground. The dense latticework is framed by stepped spandrels in rusty red, adding a gentle sense of geometry and movement.
Surrounding this intricate field, wide borders alternate rosettes and stylized blooms in tones of ivory, salmon, and muted indigo, creating balance and definition.
A beautifully aged abrash and patina throughout lend authenticity and soul to the piece, making it an elegant foundation for traditional, eclectic, or transitional interiors.
