A grand and stately presence, this antique Persian Mahal rug (10.6 × 17.2 ft) commands attention with its rare length and richly layered pattern. Crafted in the early 20th century, its field is adorned with a meticulous lattice of boteh (paisley) motifs, rosettes, and stylized blossoms in rhythmic procession - all anchored by a warm, rust-red background.
Deep navy spandrels introduce architectural framing in the corners, giving the rugs balance and refinement. The outer border in midnight blue is wrapped with alternating floral medallions in coral, ivory, and rose, lending both contrast and cohesion.
Woven with hand-spun wool and vegetable dyes, the rug has gracefully aged into a soft patina with subtle abrash and signs of wear that only enhance its antique charm.
